Plants

As our final experiment in our plants topic for Science, we conducted an experiment to see which conditions would make a seed grow the best.

We planted 4 of the same seeds at the same time, in the same pots, to make our experiment fair. One seed was planted into soil and left on the window sill, but we did not water it. The second seed was planted in tissue paper, left on the window sill, and we gave it water every day. The third seed was planted into soil, given water but left in the dark cupboard with no sunlight. The last seed was planted in soil, given water and left on the window sill with sunlight.

We made our predictions about which plant would grow the best and why. Then we let them grow for 2 weeks.

When we looked at our 4 plants today, they were all different. Only the cupboard plant and the one with soil, water and sunlight had grown. We discussed why they had grown, then looked at the differences between them. The one that had no sunlight was a white colour instead of green, and it wasn't very strong, but the one that did have sunlight was strong and green.

The class then drew observational pictures of the experiment to show our findings.
