Tin Forest
In The Orchard we have been enjoying our learning about the Tin Forest.
We started after half-term with the classroom losing all its colour. Everything was grey, silver or black, we had grey chairs, grey pencils, silver foil for junk models and even Mrs Merrick's hair was grey!
We had to learn the story of the Tin Forest to get the colour back into the room like the old man in the story building a tin forest to get the colourful animals back to the wasteland.
We enjoyed creating a tinfoil tree to help the colour to come back.
After the first week, we worked really hard creating the trees and learning to act out the story using pictures to help us remember.
We did it! The second week we got three colours back. Blue, yellow and red they were sneaky colours as we discovered that all the colours were hidden in these colours; by mixing and blending we found so many different colours and shades.
We have all really enjoyed learning about the forest and our amazing world. We used our learning to write a story to tell our grown ups.
